Wooden eggs was recalled on 14 August 2009 under EU Safety Gate alert 1056/09. Choking risk reported by Germany. Although the product is not food, because of its appearance it could easily be mistaken for food by consumers, especially children, who may consequently put the eggs in their mouth, suck or ingest them, which could cause, in particular, choking or obstruction of the digestive tract.

Risk Description

Although the product is not food, because of its appearance it could easily be mistaken for food by consumers, especially children, who may consequently put the eggs in their mouth, suck or ingest them, which could cause, in particular, choking or obstruction of the digestive tract.The product does not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.

Product Description

Yellow, blue, pale pink, green, dark pink and white (two of each colour) wooden eggs in a small wooden box. Length: 3 cm, diameter: 19.5 mm

This recall involves a choking hazard related to Wooden eggs.

This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth.

Recommended action

Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer.

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well.
