Plastic fruit was recalled on 20 June 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0639/08. Choking risk reported by Greece. The product poses a risk of choking as due to its characteristic form, appearance, colour and size, the product may be mistaken for a foodstuff.

Risk Description

The product poses a risk of choking as due to its characteristic form, appearance, colour and size, the product may be mistaken for a foodstuff. This may lead children to put it in their mouths and swallow it, which could entail the risk of asphyxia or obstruction of the digestive tract.The product does not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.

Product Description

10 pieces of plastic fruit (green and red apple, pear, orange, mandarin, apricot, banana, a bunch of green grapes, one tomato and one lemon), packed in a transparent colourless bag with a cardboard top consisting of brand name, CE mark and information in Greek.
