Lip gloss
Lip gloss was recalled on 15 October 2010 under EU Safety Gate alert 1522/10. Choking risk reported by Latvia. The products pose a risk of choking because, although not foodstuffs, they have the form, colour, odour, appearance, packing, labelling, volume or size, such that it is likely that consumers, especially children, will confuse them with foodstuff and in consequence, place them in the mouth or suck or ingest them.

Risk Description
The products pose a risk of choking because, although not foodstuffs, they have the form, colour, odour, appearance, packing, labelling, volume or size, such that it is likely that consumers, especially children, will confuse them with foodstuff and in consequence, place them in the mouth or suck or ingest them. The products fit into the small parts cylinder.The products do not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.

Product Description
Lip glosses packed in plastic mini pots in the form of little tarts (Chocolate Sprinkle tart, Cherry Feast tart, Strawberry Sprinkle tart, Violet Fancy tart, Raspberry Fluff tart, Coconut Dream tart, Lemon Twister tart). On the package the following is written: “In the rare event of an adverse reaction discontinue use. All products are for external use only. Please retain packaging for future reference. Choking hazard. Keep away from young children. Do not eat. This is not a toy.”

This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth.
Recommended action
Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer.

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well.
