Risk Description

Mercedes-Benz AG has found that, in certain EQC (BR 293) vehicles, the wiring harness for the electric steering may have been damaged during the assembly process. This could lead to an ingress of water into the wiring harness and thus, over time, into the steering control unit. As a result, the power steering could fail spontaneously, even during driving, increasing the risk of an accident. The product does not comply with the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
