Risk Description

The defect only concerns vehicles in which the intermediate steering shaft was fitted as a replacement part. In the vehicles in question, the cover of the two sliding pieces of the intermediate steering shaft is not overlapping enough. The shallow cover can cause increased wear of the pinion near the cover, as the steering forces are applied to a reduced surface. In extreme cases, both sliding pieces can buckle/break off. When the fault occurs, the vehicle can no longer be steered.
