Dezember 2011 sieht das Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung (BfR) Methylmetacrylat in Konzentrationen von 80-90 % in Nagelmodellierungskosmetik aufgrund des hohen Intoleranzpotenzials, das auch anhaltende Schäden an Nägeln verursachen kann, gesundheitsschädlich.
