Risk Description
The plastic material of the toys contains bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (measured value: 29.3 % by weight). This phthalate may harm the health of children, causing possible damage to the reproductive system. The product also contains di-'isononyl' phthalate (DINP) (measured value: 1.73 % by weight). In addition, it contains short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) (measured value: 1.34%). The placing on the market and use of articles containing SCCPs is banned. SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bioaccumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. According to the REACH Regulation the phthalate DEHP is prohibited in all toys and childcare articles, while the phthalate DINP is prohibited in all toys and childcare articles which can be placed in the mouth by children. The product does not comply with the Commission Regulation on persistent organic pollutants (POP Regulation).
