Toys - Giatara was recalled on 21 December 2018 under EU Safety Gate alert A12/1906/18. Chemical, Strangulation risk reported by Poland. The strap attached to the toy does not have a quick release mechanism and the battery compartment can easily be opened without the use of any tools so the batteries inside are accessible.

Risk Description

The strap attached to the toy does not have a quick release mechanism and the battery compartment can easily be opened without the use of any tools so the batteries inside are accessible. If the strap is worn around the neck, it could form a loop and become trapped. The absence of a quick release mechanism, enabling the child to detach the strap, can lead to strangulation. The child may put the batteries in the mouth and swallow them, causing damage to the gastrointestinal tract.The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standards EN 62115 and EN 71-1.
