Toy mobile phone was recalled on 25 January 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0078/08. Choking, Damage to hearing, Suffocation risk reported by Poland. The product poses a risk of:- damage to hearing because it exceed noise limit of 86db,- choking because of detached small part (the sticker) which fitted entirely in the small parts cylinder,- suffocation by strangulation because the cord is too long.

Risk Description

The product poses a risk of:- damage to hearing because it exceed noise limit of 86db,- choking because of detached small part (the sticker) which fitted entirely in the small parts cylinder,- suffocation by strangulation because the cord is too long. There is also information missing about the necessity of keeping attention on polarity of batteries and lack of warning: “Empty batteries should be removed from the toy.”The product does not comply with the Toys Directive and with the relevant European standard EN 71.

Product Description

The toy is a mobile phone made of yellow coloured plastic. The buttons are made of black coloured plastic. There is a 3-D picture (sticker) of a doll on a display. There is also a pink cord attached to the toy. Pressing any buttons results with sounds emission. The toy is powered by 2 “AA” 1,5 V batteries. The package of a toy is a multicolour cardboard box.
