Risk Description

The soother holder has openings in which the child could have the fingers trapped. Moreover, the soother holder is too long, it can become wrapped around the neck of the child, causing strangulation. Additionally, the clip device can easily brake, releasing small pieces. A small child may put these in the mouth and choke. The clothing fastener device can also easily disconnect. A small child could also take this small part, put it in the mouth and choke. The product does not comply with the General Product Safety Regulation nor with the European standard EN 12586.

About this risk

Choking: This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth. Entrapment: This product has gaps, openings, or moving parts where fingers, limbs, or a child's head can become trapped. Strangulation: This product contains cords, strings, loops, or other elements that can wrap around a child's neck and cause strangulation.

Recommended action

Choking: Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer. Entrapment: Stop using the product. If someone is trapped, do not force the body part free — call emergency services if needed. Contact the retailer for a return. Strangulation: Remove the product from the child's environment immediately. Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.

Who is at risk?

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well. Young children are most at risk of entrapment injuries. Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
