Risk Description

The bikini has drawstrings in the neck and waist areas. These can become trapped during various activities of a child, leading to injuries or strangulation.The product does not comply with the relevant European Standard EN 14682.The mermaid tail also reduces the child’s ability to swim, which poses a risk of drowning.

This recall involves a drowning, injuries, strangulation hazard related to Sokisahtel Mermaid.

About this risk

Drowning: This product does not provide adequate stability or safety features for use in or around water, creating a drowning risk. Injuries: This product has a design or manufacturing defect that can cause physical injuries such as cuts, bruises, fractures, or other bodily harm during normal use. Strangulation: This product contains cords, strings, loops, or other elements that can wrap around a child's neck and cause strangulation.

Recommended action

Drowning: Do not use this product in or near water. Never leave children unattended near water, even with flotation devices. Return the product to the retailer. Injuries: Stop using the product immediately. Check yourself and family members for any injuries. Store the product safely out of reach and contact the retailer or manufacturer for a replacement or refund. Strangulation: Remove the product from the child's environment immediately. Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.

Who is at risk?

Children are at extreme risk. Drowning can occur in as little as 2 cm of water. All users, particularly children and elderly people who may be more vulnerable to injury. Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
