Risk Description

The electrical cables are easily accessible because the compartment is only protected with a velcro fastener. These cables may form a loop large enough for a small child to wrap the wires around its neck, which may lead to strangulation Additionally, the fibrous stuffing material of the toy is also easily accessible for the same reason. A small child could put stuffing material in mouth and choke. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive nor with the European standard EN 71-1.

About this risk

Choking: This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth. Strangulation: This product contains cords, strings, loops, or other elements that can wrap around a child's neck and cause strangulation.

Recommended action

Choking: Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer. Strangulation: Remove the product from the child's environment immediately. Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.

Who is at risk?

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well. Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
