Soft toy was recalled on 18 January 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0021/08. Chemical, Suffocation risk reported by Finland. The product poses a chemical risk because:- the material of the saddle contains 750 mg/kg of lead and 99 mg/kg chrome.

Risk Description

The product poses a chemical risk because:- the material of the saddle contains 750 mg/kg of lead and 99 mg/kg chrome. The material of the bridle contains 120 mg/kg of lead, - the material of the saddle contains 15 % of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP). The material of the bridle contains 17 % by weight of DEHP; and a risk of suffocation by strangulation because the bridle can be easily detached from the toy. The perimeter of noose exceeds 380 mm when stretched by a force of 25 N.The product does not comply with the Toys Directive and with the relevant European standard EN 71.According to the Chemicals Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC, certain phthalates shall not be used in toys in concentration higher than of 0,1 % by weight.

Recommended action

Suffocation: Remove the product and any packaging from the child's reach immediately. If a child is having difficulty breathing, call emergency services. Dispose of plastic packaging safely.

Who is at risk?

Anyone who has used this product, especially children, pregnant women, and people with sensitive skin. Infants and toddlers are at highest risk. Never leave plastic bags or soft materials in a sleeping area.
