Set of plastic ponies was recalled on 27 June 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0689/08. Chemical risk reported by Poland. The products pose a chemical risk because they contain excessive levels of di-2-ethyl-hexylphthalate (DEHP):- 23% by weight in the violet coloured pony,- 27% by weight in the pink pony.

Risk Description

The products pose a chemical risk because they contain excessive levels of di-2-ethyl-hexylphthalate (DEHP):- 23% by weight in the violet coloured pony,- 27% by weight in the pink pony. According to the Chemical Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC, certain phthalates in toys are prohibited.

Product Description

A set of two ponies made from soft plastic, coloured pink and violet. Both have a mane and tail made of “hair”. The toy is packed in a plastic bag closed with folded multicoloured cardboard. On the cardboard there is a tag with a CE mark, pictogram concerning age 0-3 restriction, name and address of importer, “Made in China” inscription and caution: “Product not suitable for children below 3 years” and a warning against chocking hazard.
