Roller blind was recalled on 19 November 2010 under EU Safety Gate alert 1708/10. Strangulation risk reported by Finland. The product poses a risk of strangulation, especially for small children, due to the presence of a long operative loop (approximately 120 cm long) and the absence of devices for keeping the bead chain (loop) out of the reach of the children.

Risk Description

The product poses a risk of strangulation, especially for small children, due to the presence of a long operative loop (approximately 120 cm long) and the absence of devices for keeping the bead chain (loop) out of the reach of the children. The product does not comply with the EN-13120 Internal blinds. One fatal accident reported.

Product Description

Roller blinds in various sizes (width 120, 140, 160 and 180 cm) and colour, operated by a bead chain on one side of the blind. The blind is intended to be mounted by a consumer.

About this risk

This product contains cords, strings, loops, or other elements that can wrap around a child's neck and cause strangulation.

Recommended action

Remove the product from the child's environment immediately. Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.

Who is at risk?

Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
