Rice cooker was recalled on 2 April 2010 under EU Safety Gate alert 0590/10. Electric shock risk reported by Germany. The product poses a risk of electric shock because it is not earthed and in the case of an insulation defect the outer casing will become live; and because the cable insulation is so brittle that it cracks after being handled normally for a short time, exposing live wires that could be touched.
