Rechargeable torch with built-in thermometer was recalled on 16 March 2007 under EU Safety Gate alert 0250/07. Electric shock risk reported by Spain. This product poses a risk of electric shock because:- it is possible to touch live components with test probe;- there is insufficient protection against accidental contact with metallic components, which are only separated from live components by primary insulation;- the product failed the dielectric test between live components and accessible metal components;- the appliance’s outer casing does not guarantee a level of protection against moisture consistent with its classification;- the appliance does not withstand damp conditions likely to arise during normal use;- the appliance failed the dielectric strength test;- the appliance failed the voltage test on the pins;- Class II appliances containing Class III components must be constructed in such a way that the insulation between components operating at safety extra-low voltage and other live components meets the requirements for double insulation or reinforced insulation;- the plug on the appliance does not comply with standard;- soldered joints are used, with no additional securing device;- the appliance failed the ball pressure test.

Risk Description
