Rechargeable torch was recalled on 1 February 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0099/08. Electric shock risk reported by Austria. The product poses a risk of electric shock because:- the torch can be recharged from the mains via the plug which can be pushed out of the grip and the adaptor plug which is included,- the pins of both plugs are without insulating sleeves and can therefore be touched,- the adaptor plug does not fit properly onto the torch plug, which means that contact with the live pins is possible.

Risk Description

The product poses a risk of electric shock because:- the torch can be recharged from the mains via the plug which can be pushed out of the grip and the adaptor plug which is included,- the pins of both plugs are without insulating sleeves and can therefore be touched,- the adaptor plug does not fit properly onto the torch plug, which means that contact with the live pins is possible.The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.
