Recessed luminaries with reflector lamp was recalled on 8 February 2008 under EU Safety Gate alert 0143/08. Electric shock, Fire risk reported by Hungary. The notified products pose a risk of:- electric shock since the basic insulated parts (wires connected to the lampholder) are accessible, there is no device to protect against pulling and twisting, and sharp metal parts protrude into the wireways; - fire because the PVC insulation may get into contact with the light source and thus overheat (measured value: 181°C).

Risk Description
The notified products pose a risk of:- electric shock since the basic insulated parts (wires connected to the lampholder) are accessible, there is no device to protect against pulling and twisting, and sharp metal parts protrude into the wireways; - fire because the PVC insulation may get into contact with the light source and thus overheat (measured value: 181°C). The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.

Product Description
The metal-covered luminaires include a silver metal frame, a GX5.3 ceramic lampholder for connecting bi-pin SELV halogen lamps. A terminal block was supplied with the MS-101 type luminaire. This type cannot be adjusted, while the MS-01XSY type can be adjusted in approx. 30°. Main parts of product: GX5.3 lampholder ("DX-106 25V 4A VDE CE"), terminal block ("W6 380V N D FI UL CE").Technical specifications: 220/230 V~, 50/60 Hz, MR16 Max. 50 W, F-mark.
