Risk Description

These products pose a chemical risk because:- the "hair" of the rag dolls was produced using prohibited azo colours, which by splitting one or more azogroups can form one of the carcinogenic amines, 1) In the brown and red/orange textile threads used for the dolls' hair, 1200 and 830 mg/kg of 4-aminoazobenzol were found,2) In the brown textile threads used for the dolls' hair, 1100 mg/kg of 4-aminoazobenzol were found,3) In the brown, red/orange and light brown textile threads used for the dolls' hair, 1400 mg/kg, 1200 mg/kg and 140 mg/kg of 4-aminoazobenzol were found.Azo colours are prohibited under the Chemical Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC.

One with red/orange hair, green cap, yellow feet, green shirt, blue and white striped legs and blue dungarees embroidered with a red ship.2) Rag doll with brown hair, yellow cap, orange feet, orange shirt and yellow dungarees embroidered with a red helicopter. 3) 3 rag dolls (sold individually): One with brown hair, yellow and green hat, yellow shoes, orange trousers, green and yellow shirt with embroidered cat (part sample 1-2008/01047-000). One with red/orange hair, purple and orange hat, orange shoes, green trousers, purple and orange shirt with embroidered cat (part sample 1-2008/01047-002). One with light brown hair, pink and green hat, green shoes, purple trousers, pink and green shirt with embroidered teddy bear (part sample 1-2008/01047-003).
