Risk Description
The product has an excessive concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These PAHs may cause cancer. The black plastic handle of the product has an excessive concentration of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), di-‘isononyl’ phthalate (DINP), (measured values: 2.8 %, 0.16%, 0.15 and 0.53 by weight, respectively). In addition, the plastic handle contains an excessive concentration of short chained chlorinated paraffines SCCP (measured value up to: 1.2 % by weight) SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bio-accumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. Prolonged exposure to them through the skin may cause cancer. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation nor with the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP) Regulation.
