Plastic beach toys was recalled on 15 July 2011 under EU Safety Gate alert 0634/11. Choking risk reported by Spain. The products pose a risk of choking as they may break easily, releasing small parts which may be placed in the mouth by small children.

Risk Description

The products pose a risk of choking as they may break easily, releasing small parts which may be placed in the mouth by small children. The products do not comply with the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71.

Various models of plastic beach toys; packaged in a yellow plastic net with a label containing the bar code, brand, the CE mark and the phrase 'Made in China'.

About this risk

This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth.

Recommended action

Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer.

Who is at risk?

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well.
