Outdoor heater – Tristar Patio Heater was recalled on 22 June 2007 under EU Safety Gate alert 0589/07. Burns, Fire risk reported by The Netherlands. This product poses a serious risk of burns and fire because:- the burner can not be ignited safely with a match, because the ignition opening is too remote from the pilot flame to ignite the appliance with a match;- repeated start-up problems can cause too large amounts of gas pouring out.

Risk Description
This product poses a serious risk of burns and fire because:- the burner can not be ignited safely with a match, because the ignition opening is too remote from the pilot flame to ignite the appliance with a match;- repeated start-up problems can cause too large amounts of gas pouring out. Subsequently uncontrolled ignition can cause a burst of flame. Also is stated that ignition can take place at maximum capacity of the appliance (measured 10,7kW (Hs));- when ignition occurs with a capacity of more than 5 kW (Hs) a burst of flame can come into being or the heat development can be so high that burning of clothing and/or skin can happen.This product does not comply with the Gas Appliances Directive and the relevant European standard EN 14543.
