Risk Description

The armbands have a protruding part in the shape of a toucan. A child wearing the armbands while swimming could drown if the protruding part gets stuck and causes the child to become trapped or immobilised. The product does not comply with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulation (PPE) nor with the European standard EN 13138-1.

About this risk

Drowning: This product does not provide adequate stability or safety features for use in or around water, creating a drowning risk. Entrapment: This product has gaps, openings, or moving parts where fingers, limbs, or a child's head can become trapped.

Recommended action

Drowning: Do not use this product in or near water. Never leave children unattended near water, even with flotation devices. Return the product to the retailer. Entrapment: Stop using the product. If someone is trapped, do not force the body part free — call emergency services if needed. Contact the retailer for a return.

Who is at risk?

Children are at extreme risk. Drowning can occur in as little as 2 cm of water. Young children are most at risk of entrapment injuries.
