Lighting chains was recalled on 8 May 2009 under EU Safety Gate alert 0601/09. Electric shock risk reported by Bulgaria. The products pose a risk of electric shock because: - the lighting chains are class 0 appliances as the two conductor supply cord has basic insulation only, - the conductors of the supply cord have a cross-section area of less than 0.

Risk Description
The products pose a risk of electric shock because: - the lighting chains are class 0 appliances as the two conductor supply cord has basic insulation only, - the conductors of the supply cord have a cross-section area of less than 0.5 mm²,- the dimensions of the plug are less than those required by the standard. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598 and EN 60083.

Product Description
1. A lighting chain consisting of 100 miniature light bulbs (rice lights); coloured yellow, green, blue, red; provided with control device for changing the lighting effects; with supply cord without additional insulation; plug – type “euro” bearing symbols 2.5А 250V, 50Hz. Packaging: blue cardboard box with a picture of Santa Claus in a sledge pulled by reindeer against the background of a starry sky. 2. A lighting chain consisting of 180 miniature light bulbs (rice lights); coloured yellow, green, blue, red; provided with control device for changing the lighting effects; with supply cord without additional insulation; plug – type “euro” bearing symbols 2.5А 250V, 50Hz. Packaging – red cardboard box with picture of different coloured Christmas baubles, marked: “WR”, “180 lamps, 8 programs, 100 lamps, 220 V”.
