Insinkerator was recalled on 19 June 2015 under EU Safety Gate alert A11/0041/15. Fire risk reported by United Kingdom. If the disposer unit is not installed correctly or if the air switch is damaged, contact with water of the micro switch can cause surface arc tracking that can ignite the plastic base of the disposer and cause a fire.

Risk Description

If the disposer unit is not installed correctly or if the air switch is damaged, contact with water of the micro switch can cause surface arc tracking that can ignite the plastic base of the disposer and cause a fire. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European Standard EN 60335.

Product Description

Sink waste disposal unit. The disposer is turned on and off with air pressure via a sink-mounted button. This button is connected to the air switch activator assembly which is located on the bottom of the disposer. Affected products are those activated with an air switch, while the units activated
