Hand towels was recalled on 22 April 2011 under EU Safety Gate alert 0364/11. Choking risk reported by Spain. The products pose a risk of choking because the sweet-shaped and strawberry-shaped decorations could be placed in the mouth and swallowed by children, especially small children, who may confuse them with food.

Risk Description

The products pose a risk of choking because the sweet-shaped and strawberry-shaped decorations could be placed in the mouth and swallowed by children, especially small children, who may confuse them with food.The products do not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.

Product Description

Hand towels in packaging imitating a cake with either a sweet-shaped or a strawberry-shaped decoration. They bear a label with the importer’s details and the reference.

This recall involves a choking hazard related to Hand towels.

This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth.

Recommended action

Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer.

Who is at risk?

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well.
