Risk Description
The pink textile material contains azo dyes releasing aromatic amine benzidine (measured value 67 mg/kg). When the product is in direct and prolonged contact with the skin, this aromatic amine may be absorbed by the skin. Aromatic amines can cause cancer, cell mutations and affect reproduction. Moreover the product poses an environmental risk because the plastic in the velcro strap contains short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) (measured value up to 0.180 %). The placing on the market and use of articles containing SCCPs is banned. SCCPs persist in the environment, are toxic to aquatic organisms at low concentrations and bioaccumulate in wildlife and humans, posing a risk to human health and the environment. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation and the Commission Regulation on persistent organic pollutants (POP Regulation).
