Risk Description
The product poses a risk of electric shock because:- the light does not fulfil the requirements set down for protection class IP X7. During the test, a considerable amount of water penetrated the inner lamp housing. Given that this is a protection class II (unearthed) device, the lack of an earth connection means that water penetration would not result in earthing that would trigger the house fuse. After heavy rain, for example, situations could arise in which the metal ring, which can be accessed from above, or a pool of water is "live", - the enclosed "package leaflet" recommends using light PVC tubing for the connecting cable but this is not suitable for permanent outdoor use, - the user has to drill into the outer housing of the lamp in order to feed through the power cable. There are no instructions to smooth off the hole, with the result that sharp edges may remain that could damage the cable, - parts of the assembly instructions are in English only. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60598.
