Risk Description
The figure can be easily torn apart and the battery compartment removed, giving access to small parts including button batteries. A small child may put the small parts and/or the button batteries in the mouth, causing choking or damage to the gastrointestinal tract. Moreover, the cord is too long and could wrap around the child's neck, leading to strangulation.The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standards EN 71-1 and EN 62115.

Product Description
Plastic toy figure in the shape of Santa Claus, to which is attached a cord to hang it around the neck. The toy contains 3 button batteries and flashes when the switch on the back of the toy is turned on. The product is packed in a transparent plastic bag with cardboard back and sold with sweets.

Recommended action
Chemical: Stop using the product immediately. Wash any skin that has come into contact with it. Keep it away from children. Return it to the retailer for a refund if possible. Choking: Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer. Strangulation: Remove the product from the child's environment immediately. Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.
Who is at risk?
Anyone who has used this product, especially children, pregnant women, and people with sensitive skin. Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well. Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
