Risk Description

The toy contains small parts (magnets) with high magnetic flux. A small child may put them in the mouth and choke. In addition, if a child swallows them, they could attract one another and cause intestinal blockage or perforation. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toy Safety Directive nor with the European standard EN 71-1.

Magnetic fishing toy, which consists of 4 kinds of plastic fish with magnet, 1 plastic fishing rod with magnet, and one fishing net. Product sold online.

Recommended action

Choking: Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer. Injuries: Stop using the product immediately. Check yourself and family members for any injuries. Store the product safely out of reach and contact the retailer or manufacturer for a replacement or refund.

Who is at risk?

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well. All users, particularly children and elderly people who may be more vulnerable to injury.
