Risk Description
The product poses a chemical risk due to the excessive presence of Di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (4% by mass). In addition, the product contains Di-isononyl phthalate (DINP)( 0.9% by mass). According to the REACH Regulation the phthalates DEHP, DBP and BBP are prohibited in all toys and childcare articles, while phthalates DINP, DIDP and DNOP are prohibited in toys or childcare articles that can be placed in the mouth by children.The product also poses a risk of choking due to the presence of small parts (the tops of felt-tip pens with thick tips) that can be ingested or inhaled by children.In addition, the product poses a risk of cuts due to the presence of accessible sharp edges and non-functional spikes (one of the metal rivets is poorly deburred) which could injure users.The toy does not comply with the Toy Safety Directive and the relevant European standard EN 71-1.
