Risk Description
The rate of nickel release is too high (measured value up to 24.63 µg/cm2/week). Additionally, the product has an excessive concentration of cadmium and lead (measured values up to 0.017% and 2.3% by weight, respectively). Nickel is a strong sensitiser and causes allergic reactions if present in articles that come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. Cadmium is harmful to human health because it accumulates in the body, can damage the kidneys and bones and it may cause cancer. Lead is harmful to human health, accumulates in the body and may affect breast-fed or unborn children. The product does not comply with the REACH Regulation.
