Risk Description
The front airbags and/or the pyrotechnic seat-belt tensioner units can loosen unintentionally. The airbag control device was manufactured using application-specific integrated circuits (ASIC), which are susceptible to internal short circuits. If the control device is subjected to strong inductive electrical noise – caused by other electrical components in the vehicle - this can result in an internal short circuit. Abnormal current flow can arise in the airbag control device, causing the interior temperature to increase, potentially damaging the ASIC.
