Risk Description

The protruding loops and toggles of the drawstring in the hood could get caught, for example in the playground or in the closing doors of lifts, buses, etc. As a result, the child may be strangled or fall and suffer injuries. The product does not comply with the relevant European standard EN 14682.

Children’s jacket with hood, lining and zip fastener. The hood has an elastic drawstring with plastic toggles. When the hood opening is at its largest the drawstring forms a protruding loop. Size: 110

Recommended action

Cut any cords or strings if they cannot be safely removed. Never leave children unsupervised with products that have loose cords.

Who is at risk?

All users, particularly children and elderly people who may be more vulnerable to injury. Infants and young children are at the highest risk of strangulation from cords, strings, and loops.
