Risk Description
It is possible that the control unit for the seat heating was not fitted properly to the seat frame in the vehicles affected. This might lead to interference between that control unit and the passenger presence detector, as a result of which a child seat might be incorrectly identified as an adult and the front passenger airbag thereby activated. Alternatively, an adult might be identified as a child seat and the passenger airbag thereby deactivated. As a result, in the event of an accident where the airbags are deployed, there might be an increased risk of injury for the passenger.
