Butterfly was recalled on 26 December 2014 under EU Safety Gate alert A12/2146/14. Choking, Suffocation risk reported by Poland. The product releases small parts (the plastic connector, the bolt and plastic balls) that children may put in the mouth causing choking.

Risk Description

The product releases small parts (the plastic connector, the bolt and plastic balls) that children may put in the mouth causing choking.Furthermore, the plastic bag containing the toy is not sufficiently thick and may cause suffocation if a child puts it over the mouth.The product does not comply with the requirements of the Toys Directive and with the relevant European standard EN 71-1.

About this risk

This product contains small parts that can detach and pose a choking hazard, or its size and shape make it dangerous for young children if swallowed or placed in the mouth.

Recommended action

Remove the product from children immediately. Check if any small parts are missing. If a child has swallowed a part, seek medical attention immediately. Return the product to the retailer.

Children under 3 years old are at highest risk. Supervise older children as well.
