Risk Description
The product poses a risk of injury because metal hooks straighten out causing the elasticated strap to recoil at high velocity.During testing, all single length straps failed the force requirement (400N for 60 seconds) as defined in the relevant British standard due to a combination of pull-through and hook failure. In addition, the markings and instructions for use are insufficient. The packaging states ‘Do not exceed 170N Tension’ when the standard requires that elasticated straps should sustain 400N Tension for 60 seconds.Similar products have in the past caused serious eye injuries.
