Detection of contamination with the bacterium Burkholderia cepacia. This bacterium has been associated with nosocomial infections, particularly in persons with weakened immune systems. These nosocomial infections can manifest as bacteraemia, urinary tract infections, septic arthritis and respiratory infections, among others.
